Porsche 911 Turbo S — $895/day

The 911 Turbo S is the top-tier 911 in the current model lineup. A 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six makes 640 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, routed through an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission to all four wheels via Porsche Traction Management. Zero to 60 mph is 2.6 seconds — quicker than every other car in our fleet except the Tesla Model X Plaid. Top speed is 205 mph. The car weighs about 3,650 pounds and sits on active suspension that reads the road and adjusts 1,000 times per second.

What makes the 911 Turbo S different from every other car on our lot is the combination of speed and usability. The all-wheel-drive system means you can launch it from a cold start on a chilly Red Rock Canyon morning and still pull away cleanly. The PDK transmission shifts faster than any human could with a manual. The adaptive suspension is stiff enough for track driving and soft enough for the I-15 commute back from LA. It has a real trunk — two rear parcel shelves that fit soft bags — and a rear seat that actually fits children or short adults. It is the supercar for the driver who wants to drive.

What You Get That Other Supercars Do Not Have

All-wheel drive. The only AWD supercar in our Las Vegas fleet at this price point. You can launch it hard without worrying about wheel spin, and it handles the occasional Vegas rain storm with confidence.

Usability. The 911 Turbo S has the highest seats, the best outward visibility, and the largest luggage space of any supercar in our fleet. You can drive it to the grocery store and back without feeling ridiculous.

Reliability. Porsche's flat-six engines are some of the most reliable high-performance engines ever built. The Turbo S can do 10,000 miles a year for a decade without breaking a sweat.

Pedigree. The 911 has won more racing championships than any sports car in history, including overall wins at Le Mans, Sebring, and Daytona. The Turbo S shares its engineering DNA with the 911 GT3 R and the 935-19 race cars.

Depreciation resistance. Not relevant to a rental, but worth noting: the 911 Turbo S holds its value better than any other supercar. It is the closest thing to an investment-grade supercar in the market.

Best Places to Drive a Porsche in Las Vegas

The 911 Turbo S is the most versatile car in our fleet for Vegas driving. It handles the Strip cruise, the scenic drive, the road trip, and the track day without changing character.

Red Rock Canyon Scenic Loop. The 13-mile one-way loop is perfect for the 911's chassis. The elevation changes and tight corners let you feel what the AWD system is doing and how hard the brakes can stop the car from 80 mph.

Mount Charleston via Kyle Canyon Road. The switchbacks that climb from 3,000 to 8,000 feet are the best road within 45 minutes of the Strip for testing a supercar's cornering. The 911 Turbo S is in its element here.

Valley of Fire State Park. An hour northeast of downtown, the scenic drive through the park is one of the most photogenic backdrops in Nevada. The 911 photographs beautifully against the red sandstone.

Las Vegas to Pahrump. 60 miles west on NV-160, through the Red Rock Canyon area and out to Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch. The highway portion is open and fast, perfect for testing the 911's top-end acceleration where legal.

Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. A 2-hour round trip from the Strip. The highway stretches along US-93 are the best test of the 911's ride quality at sustained highway speeds.

Las Vegas to LA road trip. The 911 Turbo S is the single best car in our fleet for a Vegas-to-LA round trip. 4 hours each way, all-wheel-drive confidence, comfortable seats, and a real trunk.

The three closest performance alternatives in our fleet are the Ferrari 488 Spider, Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder, and the 911 Turbo S. Here is how they stack up:

Track-day enthusiasts. The 911 Turbo S is one of our most-requested cars for weekend rentals that include a track session at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch. The Porsche is well-suited to the SMMR full course and owners allow our 911 on track with advance notice.

Drivers who appreciate engineering. Renters who know the 911 by heart and want the 2.6-second launch that only AWD can deliver. Often collectors, car journalists, or enthusiasts considering purchase.

Business travelers with a free weekend. Executives in Vegas for a convention who want a supercar on their day off without the drama of a convertible. The 911 is easy to park at hotel valet and easy to drive to a golf course or a Henderson restaurant.

Couples taking a long road trip. The 911 is the best supercar in our fleet for a Las Vegas to Los Angeles weekend because of the ride comfort and trunk space. The Ferrari and Lamborghini are not practical for 500-mile weekends.
